Hey John,  thanks for your mail.

I’ve writed to you about our private network servers. We have linux administrator and I think it’s enough to put mainserver files on our machine – even not… we could always try.

P.S. Very good piece of work you do it here.

    Hey cnotka,

A big welcome to gamerecon! We will get you a server running one way or another. You will find the GRAW2 ISO and all the other files needed to setup a SADS on this page HERE and I just posted a guide on how to setup a SADS in this forum HERE

Post any question you have here and I’ll do my best to quickly follow them up and I hope to see your server on the Gamerecon network soon.

    Injoy!

Listening server working well. Now lets see dedicated 🙂

What are the costs of your machine to have on-line this”gamercon” server? You need support?

Although a listen server shows up on the server list I don’t think anyone will be able to join it, the NAT negotiation is not working properly on the server side – it works fine on the client side so the dedicated servers will work for sure, it’s been well tested.

As for costs, the database (Gamespy alternative) server is cheap enough for me to maintain, it’s the game servers that cost a lot, each GRAW2 instance works out at about $20 a quarter (three months) or about $40 per quarter for a server that will run two instances of GRAW2

We will set up a TDM 16 vs 16 on our US server tonight or early next week and post here when it’s done.

We have figured out 2 new servers for GRAW2, just tested yesterday. Correct – NAT was a problem but simple DMZ or Port Forvarding and all was working well. Just brilliant work with this database and server-side files John. I know that many of players would be very grateful for this kind of work. Many of games could still be playable – you can make good business with this – just need some advert.

Many of peoples doesn’t know about this.

About servers – I know they are expensive, I have 2 or 3 servers in some companys for GRAW2 in 6-7 years and values was the same, maybe little higher. I think for you good thing is to have 2 stable servers. If I will be able to have more peoples for invite to play – maybe we can support you in 100%. I will try to help you.

    Great work!

Getting your dedicated server connected to our network isn’t that simple and thanks for the kind words of encouragement. Any support you can offer will be much appreciated.

It’s true that former gamespy connected games can be supported, however, I’ve not had a lot of success connecting other games despite my best efforts and a good understanding of the procedures, you can read more about how to update the gamespy database to support new games HERE but that’s only the server side, the easy part, I haven’t completed a client side post on the subject as yet, but will do eventually.

I would be happy to work together on attempting to support any other gamespy games from the LIST as long as you can make the games files available for me to download – client and server. I will also require help with testing and (if we get that far), troubleshooting.

    Gamerecon as a business

Although I like the idea, Gamerecon as a business is tricky, we may run into copyright issues as THIS project I posted about using a similar system did. Either way, please feel free to promote Gamerecon, we sure could do with more members playing on our network.

We also provide unbranded teamspeak servers and WordPress websites at no charge, we also provide support here in the forum and you can talk to us over teamspeak or discord – see that home page for that.

Looking forward to seeing your server on the Gamerecon network.

I have reactivated old big polish website http://www.ghostrecon.org (take and look on webarchiwe wayback machine), I have build that site from 10 years ago 🙂 Yesterday I’ve made new layout and convert database with some scripts and functions, also PHP because some features are not exist in PHP internpreter from past. I will want to promote your gamerecon feature here in my site, my people are waiting. I think good idea will be to remove ISO from website (copyrights), or just put it and link to other server. Then Ubisoft cannot send me any copyrights letters because I’m playing. I have bought the game and I can play, also if you have your database with your server – these are not their legal property – right?

I have read about your project from past and that “bad info” but tell me – they cannot make you to disable your own server (like gamerecon master), this is your property – they cannot go to the court with ME for having a game at home. It’s ridiculus?

I will make virtual CD, patches and maps and add them to download.

I will also send PMs and infos on vk, twitter, fb and e-mail to all graw2 groups from past, I have mails and websites so there will be no problem with it. I hope everyone will be very thankful for opportunity to play.

    Other question…

    1. because I want to add iframe to website with server listing. Do you have some file that I can include without include all webpage from http://192.210.241.54/ ? All webpage did not fit very well to this.
    2. Can I put launcher to download? Of course I can make another but no needed?
    3. Can I copy and paste your texts about “how to play”? No need to write another – I will add source with link.

p.s. that was You on the coop server 2 days ago? I have join with “parasite” nickname. My friend told me that remember you from map-making in the past? He was make them too.

This is great news for us,

I really like what you have done with ghostrecon.org and I don’t remember visiting that site in the heydays, guess I was working on the gddu.net (grave-diggers-down-under website & SADS), at the time. I’m also happy for you to promote Gamerecon as you see fit at ghostrecon.org,  twitter, Facebook or wherever else you like.

Copyright infringement can be easily resolved by providing external links if need be, will cross that bridge if and when we come to it but I doubt we ever will as I’m not providing playable copies of the game, only a way for individuals who have legitimately acquired the game or key that need a safe unadulterated ISO to reinstall the game. Plenty of examples of other websites doing just that, like this one. Gamerecon or the system we use to connect old games to is open source software and in no way related to UBISOFT or gamespy, you are correct to assume this and I invite you or suitable colleges to join us in further developing this system, Gamerecon is also an open project and others are welcome to not only get involved but become full partners.

Please create a virtual CD (.iso) with patches and maps, your welcome to include the Launcher 1.3.0.0 in your file, or for download on you site. I will post the source code as soon as I find it.

As for the iframe, I am trying create a user on the database that can remotely access the database so we can pull the information directly from the database using php, perhaps you might be able to help me with that? If I can get that to work we can pull info to display in the launcher like, the server list, players online, etc

copy and paste all that you need to your site or forum, a source with a link is always a nice touch although not esentiale  : )

I see your TDM server in the database tonight, looks good and ready to go, it wasn’t me on the coop server the other day but I hope to join when I have some time, it’s just great to see the system getting some more use.

Oh! Do any of you members speak English? I’m thinking it would be good to meet in teamspeak, but not essential.

Hope I answered all your question

    Hey John,

really nice to read this. Im speaking in english, also some of my colegues also, also german, italy, polish etc. I really glad to help you with datas, I know php and sql in basics, I know some of c++ and .net. I think there will be no problem to make simple launcher with server browsing and their content like players, players name and others things (like on your webpage) + add hosts to etc folder in Windows with game start-up. I can try 🙂

I will visit you on your TS in short time. Just have no time now (my own company). But I’m interested to help and support you.

If you want to create user in database (some kind of administrator with restrictions) just need to know what kind of database is that – example in mysql you can add user in “USERS” tab on localhost, if you don’t see that tab – in sql write “SET PASSWORD FOR ‘user_name’@’localhost’= PASSWORD(‘your_password’);”

If you need user that can only view the content by PHP in webpage:

You need to use GRANT SELECT [your_columns]

    ON  database_name.table_name [IDENTIFIED BY ‘your_password’]

    [REQUIRE ssl_options] <— optional

[WITH [GRANT OPTION | restrictions]] <— optional

    https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-create-a-new-user-and-grant-permissions-in-mysql

Here you have tutorial – just use GRANT SELECT  and that will be all needed to view records from database in future, without permission to write or modify anything. Just viewing content that you want.

    Cool, no english is ok,

but teamspeak might be the quickest way to familiarise you with who, what, where, how why. etc. Should be fun, i’m looking forward to it, I’ll even make you cup of my favorite coffee…

…and yep, pretty much been through that process too many times – add user in “USERS” then delete user. : )

Anyway, after reading through your post I got inspired and frustrated enough to put my networking engineering cap on…   you would think a decade of virtualization engineering experience would make you ponder, perhaps the database is only allowed to listen on the loopback address? I dug into a few posts and realised that, yep, sure enough /etc/mysql/my.cnf contained the line: bind-address = 127.0.0.1

Did a quick test to see if I could just get away with binding the servers routable IP in my.cnf but when I try and run the master server emulator (C# hartbeat executable – running on Linux under mono), it doesn’t like the new IP, it sees the database but cant bind, I’m guessing Id need to update the executable, and then test the other four components, blar, blar… not sure, nonetheless, at least I think know why my $db = new mysqli isn’t opening a socket.

Another approach, we could just change the php page on the master server to something that works better for both of us for a quick workaround.

    No need to complication 🙂

It’s enough to get by query some info like server name, ip, players etc. and put that to $result->fetch_assoc(); or later to each variables. Like now: you have clan webpage based on adminlte.io and I can view it on my page even by iframe but this can give my all your white page with all css and images with it.

    1. It could working like this: http://jsbin.com/dafesava/1/edit?html,css,output (left text from sql query) inside in div and then you can display that div.
    2. It could work with caching data in asp net.
    3. It could work with sessions.

Or just simple can send you the code with css and put to ur server then iframe to another and no need to send or save datas between any pages. We will see. Just need to know how big community this can create, no need to build launcher for 3 players 😛

The white divs are a result of not being able to display the sizing dynamic size not working, I tried every css trick in the book.

I’ll post up the current php and css on the server page and we can make some changes, see how we go
